Traditional Yang Style Taijiquan
This Taijiquan seminar is designed for those who are interested in learning
Taijiquan for health or martial arts, but who cannot find a teacher in
their area. This seminar also builds the basic foundation for traditional
Taiji marital applications and power emitting (Fa Jin). This Yang style
is one of the very few traditional styles which still carries the martial
essence of the art.
Level 1: The participant will learn the basic concept and training
of Taiji Qigong in addition to the first part of the traditional Yang Style
Taijiquan (22 forms).
Level 2: Taiji Qigong will be continued and the second part of
the traditional Taijiquan will be taught (40 forms).
Level 3: Embryo Breathing theory and technique will be discussed.
Taiji Qigong (Coiling Set) will be taught. The third part of the traditional
Taijiquan will be taught (51 forms). In addition, the martial applications
of the second part will be analyzed.
Level 4: The theory of defense and Taiji Jin will be discussed.
The martial applications and the Jin training will be practiced. This level
can be adapted into any other Taijiquan style.
Taiji Pushing Hands
If you are only a Taijiquan beginner, learning pushing hands could help
you soften your body and obtain deeper levels of relaxation. This will
help your Taijiquan practice significantly. In addition, pushing hands
practice will help you understand Qi communication with your partner through
feeling. Feeling and understanding the Qi is an essential part of Taijiquan
practice. In these Pushing Hands Seminars, the basic skills of Taiji Pushing
Hands will be taught. From these seminars, a participant can enter the
door of Taiji Pushing Hands Practice with a partner. These seminars are
suitable for all Taiji styles.
Level 1: A participant will learn the keys of listening (skin
Qi feeling), following, sticking, adhering, centering, and rooting. In
addition, he/she will also learn the basic concepts of power emitting,
single and double pushing hands routines, and the unique Yang style Taiji
symbol sticking hands training. This will build a firm foundation for advanced
Taiji pushing hands and sparring in the future.
Level 2: When a participant has completed the first level pushing
hands training, he/she will then be invited to enter the deeper level training,
which includes the Peng, Lu, Ji, An routine - both stationary and moving.
The martial applications of single and double pushing hands will be explained
and practiced. Middle level Taiji symbol sticking hands training will also
be taught. Finally, higher level power emitting (Fa Jin) training will
be taught.
Level 3: When a participant has completed the second level pushing
hands training, he/she will then be invited to enter the training of Da
Lu (Large Rollback) which contains the Cai, Lie, Zhou, and Kao techniques.
Taiji ball training will be explained and practiced. Middle level Taiji
symbol sticking hands training will also be taught.
Qigong - Qigong Theory and Health Qigong
Qigong is a way of life which teaches a practitioner how to maintain his/her
health and increase the longevity through the cultivation of internal energy.
The deeper levels of Qigong will lead a practitioner to a very deep meditative
state, and train methods for raising the spirit of vitality.
At this level, basic and important Qigong concepts such as regulating
the body, breathing, mind, Qi, and spirit will be discussed. With the proper
foundation, a practitioner can significantly shorten his/her practice time,
and yet still grasp the keys to training more efficiently and effectively.
This seminar is designed for those people who are interested in understanding
Qigong, as well as for experienced Qigong practitioner for in-depth study.
Qigong - General Qigong Massage
Qigong massage has always been an important part of Chinese Qigong practice.
From massage, you will not only understand the structure of a human's physical
body, but also the Qi behavior of the Qi body. In this general massage
seminar, you will learn both the theory and the methods of self massage
as well as massage with a partner, From the experience you gain in massage,
you will be able to regulate your body and Qi condition more smoothly and
naturally. You will also enjoy physical relaxation and mental satisfaction
during massage.
White Crane Gongfu
Dr. Yang has divided the basic White Crane training into four levels. In
the levels White Crane Qigong theory and training will be taught. White
Crane Jin and hand forms will be practiced. In addition, the theory of
White Crane defense methods will be discussed. It will build a firm foundation
in the Ancestral, Jumping and Shaking White Crane Styles.
Qin Na (Chin Na)
Chinese Qin Na techniques are the root of the Japanese martial arts Jujitsu
and Aikido. In China, almost all of the martial styles train Qin Na although
techniques can vary widely. In YMAA Qin Na seminars, Dr. Yang will introduce
the techniques which mainly originated from White Crane style (70%) and
Long Fist style (30%). All of these Qin Na techniques can be blended into
any martial style to make it a more perfect and effective style. If you
have studied Qin Na techniques from Dr. Yang's books and videotapes, this
seminar will offer you the feeling of accurate control which you cannot
obtain from reading the books and watching the tapes. The seminar will
include a review of Qin Na techniques, and will also reveal several hidden
Qin Na techniques which have not yet been included in Dr. Yang's books.
The number (#) listed in the following Qin Na seminar list should match
the textbook written by Dr. Yang: Analysis of Shaolin Chin Na. To grasp
the correct keys of the Qin Na, you must learn and feel the techniques
from an expert teacher.
